Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement following House passage of the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013 (H.R. 2642):

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy today introduced H.R. 2661, the bipartisan "Veterans Access to Timely Medical Appointments Act" to hold the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) accountable to improve medical appointment wait times and scheduling for veterans seeking medical care.

Today, Congressman McCarthy voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2014 Energy and Water appropriations bill, the annual funding bill that funds the Department of Energy, Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and other agencies. Notably, the bill includes $28.2 million in important funding that McCarthy supports for the Lake Isabella Project.

Today, Congressman McCarthy, along with 24 of his colleagues in the House, sent a letter to the Secretary of Defense demanding answers on why the Department of Defense continues to insist on mandatory furloughs of Department of Defense employees funded through the Defense Working Capital Funds (DWCF).

McCarthy Keeps Promise on House Action for Veterans

Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman Kevin McCarthy sent a letter to United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director Daniel Ashe supporting the Porterville City Council by urging the Service to delist the Valley Elderberry Longhorn Beetle as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and to remove designated critical habitat for the beetle.
