Washington D.C. – Today, Congress received the President's 2008 budget blueprint that lays out fiscal priorities for this year and the next five years. In response to the budget submission, Congressman McCarthy made the following statement as Congress begins to discuss this year's budget:
Bakersfield, CA – This year marks the 2008 Annual "Artistic Discovery" Congressional Art Competition for high school students. High school students from Kern and parts of San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles counties, who reside in the 22nd Congressional District, can submit artwork on a wide variety of subjects and mediums.

Washington D.C. – The bipartisan Veterans Guaranteed Bonus Act (H.R. 3793), a bill co-sponsored by Congressman McCarthy, passed the House last night by a 405 – 0 vote. The bill ensures that our troops, who are discharged due to combat-related injuries, receive the full compensation, including bonuses, which they were promised by the Department of Defense.
