Washington D.C. – The House of Representatives passed H.R. 2189 that contains Congressman Kevin McCarthy's bipartisan legislation (H.R. 2138 - The Ending the VA Claims Disability Backlog and Accountability Act) to hold the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) accountable and ensure that our veterans' disability benefits claims are processed in a timely fashion.
Bakersfield, CA – Congressman Kevin McCarthy will hold a forum in Bakersfield for students in the 23rd Congressional District interested in attending one of the U.S. Service Academies on Saturday, October 19th.

· Eight Obamacare provisions have been repealed / have had funding rescinded and signed into law:
"Today I sent a letter to Department of Transportation Secretary and Federal Aviation Administration Administrator to ask them to join me supporting the Indian Wells Valley Inyokern Airport, located in Inyokern, California, to be selected as a Federal Aviation Administration test site for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
"Last week I sent a letter to Gov. Brown to ask him join me in supporting the Indian Wells Valley (IWV) Inyokern Airport to be selected as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) test site for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
On September 23rd and 24th, Congressman Kevin McCarthy will organize a Valley Fever Symposium to be held in Bakersfield. Attending and speaking at the events will be Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Tom Frieden and National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins.
