Statement on the Inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama

Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman McCarthy attended the inauguration of our nation's 44th President, Barack Obama, and issued the following statement:

"Today is an historic day in America that we will not forget in our lifetimes.

"Throughout our history, America has not been immune to imperfections and problems, but we have always been able to come together and confront challenges through the optimism of a better future. Today's inauguration of President Barack Obama renews and reinvigorates that unique American spirit that persists within all Americans – hope that America will always come together to overcome any and all challenges.

"As Americans, we stand alongside our new President, understanding that this is our opportunity to work, not just as Republicans and Democrats, but as Americans, to find real, common-sense solutions to strengthen our foundation for America's middle class and job-creating small businesses. I am ready to work with President Obama to offer ideas and create new solutions to grow our economy and create a better America for our children to inherit."
