McCarthy Statement on California State Senate Passage of S.B. 1029
July 6, 2012
Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) released the following statement regarding the California State Senate passage of S.B. 1029:
"With mounting questions from independent analysts regarding the current California high-speed rail business plan, a lack of committed private funds, and ever-changing cost and ridership estimates, it astounds me that the California State Legislature passed up on this important opportunity to stop this boondoggle. Until we have assurances that high-speed rail can be self-sustaining and not require perpetual taxpayer funding, I will continue to fight to oppose any new Federal subsidies for this project."
