McCarthy Recognizes Upcoming Graduation of Local Students from the U.S. Service Academies

Congressman Kevin McCarthy is proud to announce the graduation of five cadets/midshipmen he nominated to the U.S. Service Academies.

"It has been a source of great pride to watch these individuals grow and develop into strong young officers these past four years through the benefits of a military education," said McCarthy. "I commend them for their commitment to service, and look forward to seeing what they accomplish as they lead our armed services into the future."

2nd Lieutenant Douglas R. Taylor Jr. is graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point on May 28th, with a Bachelor of Science degree in American History. He is a graduate of Liberty High School in Bakersfield, CA.

On May 30, 2014, he will marry his fiancée Katelyn Haynes. He will report to 2-11th Infantry Training Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia on July 24th to begin Basic Officer Leaders Course. In early 2015, he will report to his permanent duty station with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas.

2nd Lieutenant Alexander Kim is graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY on May 28th, with a Bachelor of Science degree in French. He is a graduate of Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, CA.

He will report to 2nd Squadron 16th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia to begin the Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course and the Army Reconnaissance Course. In the middle of 2015, he will report to his first duty station at South Korea with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.

2nd Lieutenant David Dolinar is graduating from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD on May 23rd, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Weapons and Systems Engineering. He is a graduate of Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, CA.

At the end of July, he will head to The Basic School in Quantico, VA to begin Marine officer training.

Ensign Ian Hagen is graduating from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD on May 23rd, with a Bachelor of Science in Chinese. He is a graduate of Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield, CA.

After graduation, he will be reporting to Pensacola, FL to begin flight training as a Naval Aviator.

2nd Lieutenant Alexis "Alex" Wilson is graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO on May 28th, with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Area Studies with a minor in Japanese. He is a graduate of Desert High School at Edwards Air Force Base in Edwards, CA.

He will be attending pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas in February of next year.
