McCarthy Reaffirms Commitment to Small Business Owners and Workers
This week, Congressman Kevin McCarthy served as a keynote speaker during the National Federation of Independent Business’ (NFIB) Virtual Fly-In Conference. Since 1943, the NFIB has been a leading voice for small businesses around the country, serving as a an invaluable resource for entrepreneurs. NFIB has been particularly crucial during the pandemic, working around the clock to help protect small businesses navigating unprecedented circumstances.

As a former small business owner, McCarthy understands the critical role that small businesses have on our economy, stating “All these years later, I have never forgotten the valuable lessons I learned as a small business owner. You are the first to work, last to leave, and the last to get paid. And things can be tough, even in the good times.”
The COVID-19 pandemic ultimately led to the permanent closure of 480,000 American businesses. This includes approximately 20,000 small businesses in California alone, while millions of employees also lost their jobs due to the economic fallout of the pandemic. In order to deliver justice to the American people who have disproportionately suffered because of the Chinese Communist Party’s lies, this week McCarthy released a roadmap to hold the Communist Party of China accountable for its COVID-19 cover-up.
McCarthy continued, “Hundreds of thousands of businesses have shuttered, and the world as we know it has forever changed because of China’s deceit. Those business owners are our neighbors and friends, many of whom have spent their life-savings to pursue their American dream. House Republicans stand ready to support our nation’s entrepreneurs, get Americans back to work, and hold China accountable.”
