McCarthy: No Reason to Celebrate a Failed Stimulus
Washington D.C. – Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) issued the following statement regarding the Obama Administration's latest efforts to promote the failed stimulus package:
"While the Obama Administration spends today taking a victory lap in celebration of the failed $800 billion stimulus, 9.5 percent of Americans are still unemployed, 2.4 million jobs have been lost since the stimulus' enactment and the percentage of Americans who believe that Elvis is still alive is greater than those who believe the stimulus effectively created jobs. It is also noteworthy that the Federal Reserve is expected to unveil a gloomier growth outlook today for the economy in the second half of this year. While the Democrat Majority and President Obama give lip service to job creation, Republicans have listened to the American people and have offered legislation to provide greater certainty to small businesses, allowing for the creation of more jobs across the country. Unfortunately, the obstructionist Democrat Majority is narrowly focused on advancing their job-killing agenda, rather than helping the American people."
