McCarthy Names Roskam Vice-Chair of Effort to Build New Governing Agenda

April 29, 2010

Washington D.C. – GOP Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) issued the following statement to announce that Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) will serve as the Vice-Chair of the Republican effort to put forth a new governing agenda. Congressman Roskam will play a key role alongside Congressman McCarthy as they lead an initiative by House Republicans to engage the American people and put forth a set of positive policy solutions.

"Peter Roskam is one of the rising leaders of the Republican Conference, and I am pleased he's agreed to be a part of putting together a new agenda for America. A newer member of Congress, Peter understands that the old Washington-knows-best attitude in Congress has failed the American people and we need a new way of doing business. With his communication skills and deep understanding of policy, Peter will help us to build an agenda that truly solves problems and speaks to the priorities of the American people. Our team is strengthened to have a dynamic leader like Peter Roskam along with us as we begin this process."
