McCarthy: House Republicans Want Solutions, Not More Politics
Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy gave the following remarks at a House Republican leadership press conference regarding House Republican legislation aimed at reducing the debt:
"The President continues to pick politics over people. His only concern when you listen to him is he brings up the election. We're more concerned about the policies and where this country is going."
As you heard from the Speaker and the Leader, this plan is not perfect, but it shows a great contrast to what the President has laid out. The President continues to pick politics over people. His only concern when you listen to him is he brings up the election. We're more concerned about the policies, and where this country is going. This plan, today, is one that the Speaker sat down with the other side of the aisle and the Senate. It's one that we've worked together on that would make some current cuts, put some caps in for long-term, to put us on the right path. And it brings up the argument, and where the Republicans are here wanting a balanced budget, or the opportunity to have it. I think what has to transpire now is the President has to change his ways. The President has to start putting people before politics.
