Congressman McCarthy Announces 2012 Merit Award Recipients for San Luis Obispo County

Congressman Kevin McCarthy today announced the recipients of the 2012 Congressman Kevin McCarthy Merit Award.

"This award is meant to honor the exemplary accomplishments of high school students in our community, recognizing their dedication, enthusiasm and leadership," said Congressman McCarthy. "The bright young women and men who are receiving this award today represent the innovators, entrepreneurs, and civil servants of America's future. I am proud of each recipient for their achievements, and I look forward to watching them continue to succeed in the future."

The recipients are:

· Mr. Levi Le – Paso Robles High School

· Miss Ellen Davis – Atascadero High School

· Mr. Jason Klumpp – Arroyo Grande High School

· Mr. Owen Sebo – Templeton High School

· Miss Lucia Lopez Rivera – Shandon High School

· Miss Cheyenne Ricks –North County Christian School

· Miss Sevelyn VanRonk – Coastal Christian School

The Congressman Kevin McCarthy Merit Award was created to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated exemplary school citizenship, volunteerism, community service, involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership skills and have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Earlier this year, high school principals were invited to select one outstanding graduating senior per school to receive the Congressman Kevin McCarthy Merit Award.
