Ridgecrest, Calif. — The Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce will host Rep. Kevin McCarthy at a special "Business and Jobs Luncheon" June 10.

McCarthy, the House Majority Whip, will be presented the "Spirit of Enterprise" Award from the United States Chamber of Commerce at the luncheon. McCarthy earned this honor based on his pro-business voting record in the last session of Congress. U.S. Chamber representatives will be on hand to present McCarthy with the honor.

In addition to receiving his award, McCarthy will speak about job creation, deficit/debt reduction, and regulatory reform priorities in the 112th Congress. The congressman will also get feedback from locals on their ideas to help boost the economy on a federal level.

The U.S. Chamber's prestigious "Spirit of Enterprise" award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key business votes outlined in its yearly publication, How They Voted. This is the twenty-second year that the U.S. Chamber has formally honored the accomplishments of this select group of members of Congress.

The Chamber's designated "key votes" are recorded floor votes on issues established as priorities by the Chamber, on which the Chamber informs Congress of its position on prior to the vote. Senators and House members who support the Chamber's position on at least 70% of these key votes receive the "Spirit of Enterprise" award.

"We're thrilled that Mr. McCarthy is able to come to Ridgecrest and accept this U.S. Chamber award in front of our community," said Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce CEO Nathan Ahle. "The Chamber is all about business, so when our elected representative in Congress receives a national honor for his pro-business voting record, it's big news."

"This is a premier event for our community, and an opportunity to engage our congressman in dialogue about jobs while supporting the Chamber of Commerce," Ahle continued.

The luncheon will be held in the Maturango Room at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, located at 113 E. Sydnor Ave. Reservations MUST be made for this special luncheon by calling the Chamber at (760) 375-8331. Six-pack luncheon reservations do not apply to this event. The luncheon is $50 per person, with a catered lunch. The deadline for reservations is June 7
