Introducing WhipCast - A Revolution In Government Transparency

Dear Friend,

I have long been a proponent of transparency in government. We've seen what has happened when government works behind closed doors: the American people are saddled with new laws and rules they know little about. That is something I have been fighting to change. In the Pledge to America, my colleagues and I promised to "fight to ensure transparency and accountability in Congress and throughout government." From America Speaking Out to posting the text of legislation online for at least three days before a vote, we have taken action to follow through on that promise. And now, there is a revolutionary new way for you to know what's going on in the U.S. House of Representatives in real time. It's called WhipCast. In case you missed it last night, this new app was featured on Fox News' 'On the Record' with Greta Van Susteren. We put together a lighthearted video to try to draw attention to making the House more transparent.

The very first government app to be launched across all major platforms – iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry – WhipCast puts policy briefs, floor updates, legislative text, press releases and more right at your fingertips, in real time. This is truly a ground-breaking app that gives the American public unprecedented access to the documentation and updates that help drive the decisions made by lawmakers. This is exactly what I envision when I talk about government transparency, and I encourage everyone to download this user-friendly app. Downloading is fast, easy and free. All you have to do is go to the app store on your iPhone, iPad, Blackberry or Android device and type in 'WhipCast.' Or, just click on one of the following links to go directly to the store on your device: iPhone/iPad, Blackberry, Android.

This app was designed with you in mind, with the purpose of creating an easy-to-use, one-stop-shop for you, members of Congress and their staff to know what's going on in the House of Representatives as it happens. I welcome your feedback on this first-of-its-kind government app and encourage you to email me and share your thoughts on whether this is a helpful tool for you and if you have any suggestions on how the app can be improved.

Sincerely,

Congressman Kevin McCarthy
