Congressman McCarthy Unveils WIND Energy Act
Tehachapi, CA – Today, Congressman Kevin McCarthy unveiled the WIND (Wind Incentives for a New Decade) Energy Act (H.R. 1743). This legislation would extend the production tax credit (PTC) through January 1, 2020, which would create long-term stability over the next decade in the tax code that is critical for development of wind and other renewable energy resources. Congressman McCarthy issued the following statement:
“It is time for Congress to take decisive action and create a stable wind energy development climate. That is why I introduced the WIND Energy Act, which would help increase investment in clean renewable wind energy and other renewable energy to ensure that Americans have reliable and affordable electricity for the future. This decade-long extension of the production tax credit would also invest in new local jobs and energy to power our future.
“The 22nd Congressional District is a national leader for wind energy development, and model of our nation’s energy future. Today’s WIND Energy Act is a component of an all- of-the-above energy plan to move to energy independence. By making this long-term investment, as opposed to the usual piecemeal approach, we not only invest in energy technology and innovation, but also locally produced American energy. Tehachapi is a leader in wind energy production, and is on a path to becoming one of the largest wind energy producers in our nation.
“The WIND Energy Act is a common-sense idea that we can work together as Americans to help move our nation forward.”
